After graduating from Loughborough University in 2006 with a First Class Degree in Jewellery and Silversmithing, I spent the next two years equipping my Lincolnshire workshop, building on my business skills and working to commission. In 2008 with guidance and funding from the Prince’s Trust, I set up Hannah Jewellery Designs and began developing my initial ranges.
I strive to produce original work of high quality craftsmanship. I prefer to work using hand techniques and take pleasure in the construction aspect of my work as well as its final form. When producing my work I consider tactile elements, light and colour to encourage the wearer to further engage with the piece. I am inspired by mathematical forms and engineering solutions, preferring to define my ideas then use a problem solving approach to achieve the desired aesthetic. I choose not to be influenced by preconceived notions of preciousness selecting materials for their suitability of purpose rather than perceived value.
